FAQ

Is there a difference between the HERBIE DIY Kit & the HERBIE Grow Kit?

Our HERBIE DIY Self-Watering System is perfect for someone who already has plant pots and a water reservoir but needs the automatic watering system itself. However, if you are looking for an all-in-one system with these items included, then we recommend purchasing the HERBIE Grow Kit.

Can I grow any plants I want with the HERBIE DIY Kit or HERBIE Grow Kit?

We recommend growing herbs and small to medium size vegetable plants and flowers in the HERBIE DIY Kit or HERBIE Grow Kit. This system is also great for plants or flowers that like a lot of water. It is also ideal for any plant that usually requires a lot of drainage, as the wick allows air to flow up with the water to keep your plants from getting waterlogged.

What pot size do I need for the HERBIE DIY Kit?

The upper limit of pots for this DIY self-watering system is limited to 10” in diameter, but you can choose to use smaller pots if you want. We suggest pots between 8-10” for this kit.

Will the HERBIE DIY Kit or HERBIE Grow Kit overwater or underwater my plants?

The HERBIE DIY Kit and HERBIE Grow Kit are specifically designed to provide exactly the right amount of water to your plants. Because of the wick watering design and the unique water control valve system, the value will only release more water when it detects that water from the previous release has been used.

What type of growing media should I use in the HERBIE?

A standard quality potting mix, such as Miracle-Gro (without moisture control properties), would be ideal to use.
