Pansies Growing Guide

purple and white pansies in pot

Planting Pansies

Pansy flowers come in many shapes and sizes – from purple and yellow to blue and pink. These hardy plants are ideal for windowsill planters, pots on your balcony, or directly in your garden soil. They’re every gardener’s go-to flower for borders and ground cover, too, as they offer reliable blooms nearly year-round. Learn more about successfully planting pansies in pots when you browse this growing guide from Patio Growers today!

Getting Started

When you first start planting pansies, we recommend purchasing them already blooming from your local hardware store in early spring or fall and then transferring them to your preferred container. These flowers can be pretty finicky to grow from seed! Pansies like cooler weather, partial sun, and frequent watering. If you see faded or dead blooms on your pansies, cut them off to encourage additional blossoms and prolong the flowering season.

When growing pansies in pots, we also recommend moving them indoors when the weather gets too hot. With the cooler weather indoors, we guarantee they’ll last longer into warmer seasons.

Quick Info

Planting pansies in pots or in your garden is easy, but you need to ensure the best environment for them to thrive. Does your garden meet these requirements?
